How to Cope with Nosy People at Work
When it comes to coping with nosy people at work, you will find that there are plenty of things that you would like to do, however, you will want to think about the things that you should do. You should do things that are going to make the situation better. You don't want to hurt everyone's feelings, but you should, at times, just tell others to leave you alone or deal with their own issues. You will want to do everything in a respectful manner.
The first thing to dealing with a nosy person is to tell them quietly that you will get back them. Deal with it by putting it off, however, a nosy person will not stop. You will want to make sure that you do everything in a nice manner, but there are some people who you can distract by taking the focus off of you and putting it on something else. You may just want to bring up an aspect of work to distract the person from your own personal issues and focus them on work. You will want to do all that you can to subtly change the subject, without harming or hurting someone else.
Secondly, if you would like the solution to be permanent, you may want to take the person aside from the crowd and explain to them how they make you feel. Tell them that you think that it's only something that you should know that it's not for anyone else, and that you don't want to talk about it. You will find that there is power in your voice, but you will also notice that you feel better, as well as, become more confident when with others. You will notice that if you are able to stand up for yourself, you will be able to stand up for anything and you'll feel stronger.
Not only should you try to do something to make yourself feel better, but you may also want to think about things like rumors. Sometimes it's just better to keep your mouth shut so that other people don't make fun of you or hurt your feelings from the truth. You will find hat there are tons of things that you can do to get the focus of rumors from you and your good name. Rumors are not good to have going around, especially if it is about you. You will want to make sure that you don't give in to all of the pressure of telling things to others. Rumors will end up going around and you'll end up finding that it is nothing like you said. You don't want to put yourself in a position where you have to deal with things like this. You don't want to deal with the pain or hassle of dealing with rumors.
You may also want to talk to your superior or boss about the pressures that you are feeling from the person to reveal something. They will talk to the other person and let them know that you aren't feeling okay about the things that they are doing. You will find hat there are a lot of things that you will be able to solve if you sit down with your co-worker and then with you manager to help you get to the bottom of things and to make you feel better about yourself.
You will find there are tons of things that you can do, but you are going to have to work with yourself and encouraging yourself to be better. If you become confident and comfortable with whom you are then you can easily deal with others who just want to bring you down.
